Coming after his last self produced single Lean, Ro the rapper tries his hands on some more alternative hiphop production and this time the outcome is an Afro infused rap song which he calls 2am Wavez.

According to Ro, he got inspired to make this song as soon as he stumbled upon the sample and did not sleep till he was done with the beat.
2am wavez is a dynamic blend of urban trap music and traditional African sound which sees Ro delivering punchlines and metaphors like:

You cannot beat this it’s the pentatonix,
flow is futuristic like my last name hendrix

Ro the Rapper – 234 Come Up Freestyle

Ro the rapper dishes out his first offering of 2016 which is a 2 minute long verse laced on a Hiphop beat produced by Nastie Beats.

This hot freestyle is to serve as a warm up track before he puts out his first single of the year which is an Afro-trap tune titled “Baller Lomo”.

On this freestyle, the Nerd turned rapper basks in his carved out niche which is a fusion of Western Trap music and a little blend of the Nigerian Hiphop flavour.
He talks about his absence from the scene, his goals and reality o  this cut.

Not long after the release of “Awolowo”, fast rising hip hop artist Ro the rapper is back with his own version of Fetty Wap’s “Trap Queen” which he titles “Trap Kings”.

Still pushing his afro-western new school rap style which he is known for in recent times, Ro the rapper successful takes the Trap Queen song and made it his with lines like “I’ll hop out that Benz and take Keke with my ni**as”.

Trap Kings is a catchy Afro-trap tune infused with strong word plays and punchlines with a hook you would love to sing along to.

Ro the rapper is consistently working on new music which will be put out in not so distant time.

When Kendrick Lamar released his sophomore album, To Pimp A Butterfly (2015), I was in the middle of teaching a unit on Toni Morrison’s novel, The Bluest Eye (1970). My freshmen students were grappling with some big ideas and some really complex language. Framing the unit as an “Anti-Oppression” study, we took special efforts to define and explore the kinds of institutional and internalized racism that manifest in the lives of Morrison’s African-American characters, particularly the 11-year-old Pecola Breedlove and her mother, Pauline. We posed questions about oppression and the media – and after looking at the Dick & Jane primers that serve as precursors to each chapter, considered the influence of a “master narrative” that always privileges whiteness.

Set in the 1940s, the Breedlove family lives in poverty. Their only escape is the silver screen, a place where they idolize the glamorous stars of the film industry. Given the historical context…
